IMPORTANT NOTICE FROM SOFTBALL BC
Softball BC has experienced a serious incident of theft by a long term employee.
It has been discovered that an employee has embezzled $404,000.00 over a 2 ½ year period. All appearances are the employee was working alone on the misappropriation of funds, investigations are ongoing and will reveal if anyone else was involved.
The theft was discovered through pointed questions on some financial transactions during the 2009 financial annual audit by VP of Finance Zeone Andrijaszyn, Executive Director Heather Bee and KNV our audit firm. Shortly thereafter the employee admitted guilt. During the 2008 & 2009 fiscal year the employee defalcation resulted in a loss of $307,731. Further defalcation this fiscal year has resulted in a loss of $96,500.
The Surrey RCMP have taken statements from Softball BC President Dennis Bidin and VP of Finance Zeone Andrijaszyn and are conducting their own investigation with the intent of pressing charges against the employee.
The loss combined with reduced government funding will stretch the resource of Softball BC however no reduction in delivery of services or programs is proposed or expected.
