The Bryan Sask Coach of the Year Award

Apr. 23, 2021

Yesterday to recognize the volunteers of Softball BC we announced the renaming of our Volunteer of the Year Award and today the Softball BC Board of Directors is announcing the second of the two awards to be renamed in honour of outstanding volunteers of our game.

The Board of Directors is proud to announce that the Softball BC Coach of the Year Award will now recognize the contributions of one of the sports most passionate and dedicated volunteers, Mr. Bryan Sask.

The Bryan Sask Coach of the Year Award will be awarded to coaches who embody the same values, drive and passion that Bryan did and who give back to their community whole heartedly.

Bryan passed away in March 2020 and learning of his passing Past President, Jake Dewitt shared his thoughts, " Throughout Bryan’s long and illustrious contributions to softball, his greatest passion was to train and develop coaches so our sport could continue to grow and flourish. Bryan made an impact in so many ways, as a coach, mentor and builder, not only in BC, but across all of Canada and especially in the Arctic. Bryan was, justifiably, extremely proud of achieving the milestone of having personally taught over 1,000 coaches how to coach softball. I know I speak for our entire softball community in passing along our deepest condolences to the Sask family. Your loss of a husband, father and friend is shared by the thousands of people who Bryan touched through his work with the softball community."
